NFL fines Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed for hit on New England Patriots WR Deion Branch – NFL News
The National Football League (NFL) has confirmed levy of $21,000 fine on Baltimore  Ravens veteran safety Ed Reed after having found him guilty of violation of the safety rules by hitting New England Patriots receiver Deion Branch in the game on past Sunday.
Deion was hit on the head and neck area by Reed when the victim was defenceless, according to the league’s investigations, and the hit could have resulted in a serious injury such as concussion.
Patriots have not confirmed the latest status of the player but as per unconfirmed information he appears to be fine and likely to return to action without being much effected.
It is not clear yet if Reed or Ravens will appeal for overruling of the league’s verdict. It might not be an option in front of them given that the evidence in the incident looks to be clear and solid.
The Ravens were able to finally defeat the Patriots after a hard-fought game which looked to be more sort of a rivalry with the players from both sides taking on one and other very roughly indeed.
It was one of very rare times that Reed went rough against his opponent. He, otherwise, maintains a good record and has not received fines and penalties in any other form as many times as some of other defensive players in the league.
May be it was loss of the Ravens to the Patriots in last season’s conference title game that has kept bothering most of the Ravens’ players including Reed. A majority of them boasted their preparedness for the game and were expected to put up a strong show.
The mood in the game reflected the Ravens could go to any level to thrash the opposition. They from beginning to end appeared to be aggressive and tried to squeeze Patriots players whenever had an opportunity.
