NFL weekend betting preview

The Buffalo Bills have yet to win a game this season and are currently sporting a less than impressive 0-7 record. So you probably would expect them to be longer than odds on against the Detroit Lions, especially considering that they’re at home.

The Lions might not be the strongest team in the NFL but they’re not exactly a powerhouse like the Colts or Patriots, but still a team that’s 0-7 surely shouldn’t be odds on. However, the odds compilers know what they’re doing and they seem to have got the market just about right.

The Bills might be the best 0-7 team in NFL history and they’ve come pretty close to beating some good teams this season.

They gave Miami a close game on opening weekend, they scored 30 points against the Patriots giving them an almighty scare losing by eight points, the Ravens were taken to overtime by the Bills as were the Kansas City Chiefs.

Point being, the Bills aren’t getting blown out by good teams and against a lesser team like the Lions they could get their first win of the season. The Bills move the ball, both on the floor and in the air, and don’t get me wrong they’re not a good team, but their much better than their record suggests.

This should be the weekend their record moves to 1-7.

The other bet I’d be making is the Steelers over the Patriots by three points. New England have shown they struggle on the road losing to the Jets and the lowly Browns last week.

Since Randy Moss was traded to the Minnesota, Tom Brady hasn’t looked as effective and looked pretty awful against the Browns last week.

The Steelers are a good team, showing that even without their franchise quarterback for four games at the start of the season when they won three games. Their offence is efficient as always although they didn’t look the part against the Saints two weeks ago.

If the Steelers win it will because they’ll be able to shut down the Patriots normally potent offence rather than scoring a tonne of their own points. The Steelers by three points looks an interesting bet.
