NGA (National Greyhound Association) Fall Meet starts on 10th October 2011, full schedule disclosed
This year’s NGA (National Greyhound Association) Fall Meet is scheduled to kick off on 10th October, 2011, in Abilene. Payment for the Gold and Silver cups can be made any time before the 1st of October.
Pre-stake schooling will take place from 2nd October to 7th October and the draw for trap positions for Round One will take place the following day.
Sunday, 9th October, will mark the meetings of both the committee and the Board of Directors.
The real action will begin on Monday, 10th October, with the opening of Round One of the Silver Cup followed by the first rounds of the August Stakes, July Stakes and June Stakes. After a one hour interval, the May Stakes’ Round One will take
place.
The second day of the meet, 11th October, will see another set of Round One stakes including the April Stakes, March Stakes and February Stakes as well as the Gold Cup.
Once the results for all the stakes are in, trap draws for the finals will be conducted at 4pm, the same day. The evening will be full of glamour as the invitation-only Hall of Fame Club Banquet will start at 6pm.
13th October will not see much racing but will in fact play host to a number of official meetings after which an Elks Club Banquet, in honour of Greg Fast, will be held to close the evening.
Starting from 9am on 13th October, the finals will begin.
The finals of the Silver Cup, May Stakes, June Stakes, July Stakes and August Stakes will all be held on the same day and at noon the NGA will host a barbeque at Brown’s Park.
At 6pm, the much awaited Hall of Fame inductions will take place and then at 10pm, that night, the races from the day will be televised on a local channel.
The finals of the Gold Cup, February Stakes, March Stakes, April Stakes and Borchers stakes will be held on 14th October.
The evening of 14th will see the most important feature of the meet, the auction.
Auction for the puppies from Silver Cup, June Stakes, July Stakes and August Stakes will take place in the evening and finally on the 15th of October the puppies from the remaining races will be auctioned.
The NGA Fall Meet is an exciting event for greyhound racing enthusiasts as it provides a forum for new puppies to showcase their talent.
One hopes that this year’s event will be as riveting as its predecessors and will propel the winners and highest earners to new heights of success.
