NHL 2010 – Recap: Dallas Stars 4-3 Victory over Detroit Red Wings
The Dallas Stars edged closer to the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference standings.
Loui Eriksson scored at the 4:18 mark during overtime to lift Dallas Stars to a 4-3 victory over the Red Wings in a game between the top two teams of the conference at Joe Louis Arena. Eriksson also had 2 assists.
Brenden Morrow scored twice. He had pulled the Dallas even late in the 3rd period with his 2nd goal of the match.
Brad Richards added a goal and Andrew Raycroft made 28 saves for the Stars to pull within a point of Red Wings.
"We had a lot of reasons, a lot of excuses to pack it in ... but our guys hung in there," Stars coach Marc Crawford said about his team, which won 2-1 in Columbus on Saturday night.
"It was a hard-fought game. Especially playing back-to-back," said Morrow, who played in his 700th game.
Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen both had a goal and an assist. Both set up another goal for the Detroit and Patrick Eaves scored for Red Wings. Chris Osgood stopped 28 shots in a failed bid for his 400th career win.
Eriksson scored on a wrist shot from the left circle for his 14th goal.
In the third period, Morrow tied the game with his 12th goal of the season. With over 3 minutes remaining, Morrow accepted a pass from left wing Jamie Benn and skid a backhander between the pads of Osgood.
Jamie Benn intercepted the pass in the left circle and set up Morrow.
Franzen restored Red Wings’ 3-2 lead with 16.3 seconds left in the second period with his 14th goal. He beat a screened Raycroft in the middle stanza.
Dallas Stars tied the game at 2 in the first after Red Wings took a 2-0 lead.
Datsyuk scored his 12th goal with his backhand shot below the right circle deflected off Raycroft's stick. Eaves scored 2-0 with 7:35 remaining in rebound.
 
 
 
 
 
With 6:04 left in the first, Richards put Dallas Stars on the board with his 15th goal. He hit the shot from inside the blue line and it went wide. However, it was deflected past Osgood by the skate of Detroit’s defenseman Brad
Stuart.
Dallas Stars tied the game at 17:57 with a Power Play goal as Morrow tilted a Trevor Daley’s slap shot over the left shoulder of Osgood. 
Dallas' Steve Ott and Detroit's Justin Abdelkader fought midway through the second period.
The Detroit’s last win over the Dallas was on 31st of October 2001. Since then, Stars are 5-0-5 in overtime and shootout play-offs against Red Wings.
Nonetheless, Detroit are 3-4-2 in their past 9 matches.
