NHL: Boston Bruins play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs
The Boston Bruins will host the Toronto Maple Leafs at the TD Garden in what will be the first game of Thursday. This will be the sixth and the final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season. Out of the five games that have already taken
place between the two teams; the Maple Leafs has won three games while the Bruins have won two.
The last game between the two teams took place on 19 March which saw the Maple Leafs coming up with a brilliant performance that saw them winning 5-2 in the end with Joey Crabb scoring the winning goal of the game. The Bruins have got back on the winning
roads after they were on a rough road. They have managed to win four out of their last five games and this is due to some brilliant defence.
During the course of the wins, the Bruins have only conceded three goals and are looking in a good shape to win the game. The Bruins are already in the play-off cut but they are looking to move up the standings even further.
"It doesn't matter that you clinch, I mean you still have to play desperate hockey. And especially the teams we are facing are playing for their playoff spots, playoff positions," Bruins captain Zdeno Chara said. "We want to get ready for the playoffs, and
improve our game."
The Bruins are hoping to come up with their three consecutive win as they face the Maple Leafs. The Bruins came up with a brilliant performance in their last game which saw them winning 3-0 in the end against the Chicago Blackhawks.
"This was a good challenge for us," said Bruins goalie Tim Thomas, who made 32 saves for his ninth shutout of the season. "Chicago is a good team. I know they're battling for a playoff spot in that Western Conference, but that's a good thing because you
know they're going to bring their 'A' game because those points mean a lot to them.”
The Bruins have played 76 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 43 games in regulation time, 10 games in regulation time to score a total of 96 points. The Maple Leafs on the other hand has played 77 games during the season out
of which they have won 35 games in regulation time, 10 games in overtime to score a total of 80 points.
The Maple Leafs has also impressed quite a few with their last performances that have seen them winning four of the five last games. They won their last game against the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 and looking in a good shape with the play-off teams losing games.
"We're going to try and win all of our games and see what happens," Toronto coach Ron Wilson said. "If we don't get in, we don't get in. But we'll have given it our best shot."
