Anaheim Ducks beat Calgary Flames 3-2 after shootout
The final game of Friday saw the Anaheim Ducks play home to the Calgary Flames. The match was played at the Honda Centre with an attendance of around 14,000 fans. This was the 424th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere
Series with the Calgary Flames playing the 30th game of the season and the Anaheim Ducks playing the 32nd game of the campaign.
The match started off strongly for the Calgary Flames as they came up with a very strong defence and offence. The offence caused a lot of problems for the home side but much to their relief no goals were scored.
The Anaheim Ducks piled up attack after attack and scored in the 13th to take the lead of the match. The goal was scored by Lubomir Visnovsky from a powerful long range shot. The Anaheim Ducks came up with a few more
goal attempts but failed to score.
The Calgary Flames made attacks at the end of the period once again but unfortunately they didn’t score any goals. The period ended with the Anaheim Ducks leading 1-0. The Anaheim Ducks made 8 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames
made 11.
The Calgary Flames started off the period with attacks that got them into scoring positions regularly. The away side displayed some excellent passing and shooting. The Anaheim Ducks caught the away side on a few counter attacks
but the defence or the goalkeeper were able to deal with them.
The home team backed by the fans was able to attack often and managed to score in the 17th minute. The goal was scored by Dan Saxton from a simple tip in shot. The Anaheim Ducks continued to attack till the very end
of the match but weren’t able to score. The Anaheim Ducks had doubled the lead at the end of the period with the score at 2-0.
During the course of the period, the Anaheim Ducks made 7 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames made 13.
The final period of the match saw the Calgary Flames start very strongly. They managed to score in the 7th minute to cut the lead to 1 goal. The goal was scored by Olli Jokinen from a powerful strike.
The Flames successfully scored in the 14th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by David Moss from a simple shot that went into the back of the net. The score at the end of regulation time was 2-2. During
the course of the period, the Anaheim Ducks made 7 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames made 14.
During the overtime no goals were scored but the Anaheim Ducks won the match through Corey Perry’s goal in the shootout.
