NHL Latest – Anaheim Ducks win 6-2 against the Minnesota Wild
The final match of Sunday was played at the Honda Centre, home of the Anaheim Ducks. This was the 440th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premier Series which took place in front of 14,000 fans. The Minnesota Wild’s struggling campaign so far continued
as they lost this match against the Ducks 6-2. This was Minnesota Wild’s 29th game of the season while the Anaheim Ducks played the 33rd game of the campaign.
Anaheim Ducks started off in spectacular fashion as they attacked right from the start and scored in the 1st minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Corey Perry from a powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net.
Minnesota Wild responded to this with attacks too and scored in the 7th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Brent Burns from a long range well placed shot. The Ducks, backed by the home fans was able to restore the lead with a goal
within the next minute. The goal was scored by Ryan Getzlaf from a brilliant flick shot.
Both teams a few more scoring opportunities but they failed to score as the period ended with the Ducks leading 2-1. During the course of the period, the Ducks made 9 goal attempts while the Minnesota Wild made 7 goal attempts.
The 2nd period was again started on a high by the Anaheim Ducks as they scored in the 3rd
minute to double the advantage. The goal was scored by Ryan Getzlaf once again from another spectacular long range shot.
Like the previous period, the Minnesota Wild responded once again as they scored in the 10th minute to trail by just 1 goal. The goal was scored by Marek Zidlicky from a well placed flick shot.
However, this time out the Anaheim Ducks came up with a brilliant display of ice hockey combing superbly. The home team managed to bag their 4th goal through Corey Perry who scored his second goal for the night.
The period ended with the Anaheim Ducks scoring once again in the 18th minute. The goal was scored by Bobby Ryan from a decent strike that took the score to 5-2. The period saw the Minnesota Wild making 11 goal attempts while the Anaheim Ducks
made 15 goal attempts.
The final period was also dominated by the Ducks as they attacked every now and then. The home team successfully scored in the 16th minute to seal the match. The goal was scored through a brilliant flick shot from Corey Perry who completed his
hat-trick with the goal.
During the 20 minutes of play, the Ducks made 12 goal attempts while the Minnesota Wild made 4 goal attempts as the Ducks won the match 6-2.
