Florida Panther thrash the Buffalo Sabres 6-2
Florida hosted the 470th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series this Friday as the home team went up against the Buffalo Sabres. The Panthers were playing the struggling Buffalo Sabres as part of the game this
Friday. The match took place at the Bank Atlantic Centre in front of around 17,000 fans. The result was as expected with the Florida Panthers winning the match 6-2. This was the 32nd game of the season for the Buffalo Sabres while the Florida Panthers
played the 30th of theirs.
The Panthers were backed by the home crowd right from the start of the match. They attacked and kept attacking till the very end, the home team managing to score and break the deadlock in the 2nd minute through Bryan
McCabe’s flick shot.
After the goal, the Sabres attacked in search of an equalizer but this went against them. The Panthers scored yet again in the 9th minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Marty Reasoner from a wonderful long
range shot.
The home team was content on wrapping up the match in the first period from the looks of it when they scored once again in the 15th minute. Marty Reasoner was the provider once again that took the score to 3-0. The Panthers
finished of the period on a high, continuing their attacks. The home team scored in the 17th minute through David Booth to lead 4-0 going into the break.
During the 20 minutes of play, Florida Panthers made 10 goal attempts while the Sabres made 12 but weren’t successful in converting any of these chances into goals.
The 2nd period saw both teams opt for an attacking strategy. This resulted in chances after chances for both the teams but no goals were scored.
The Panthers were the stronger of the two in the 2nd period and dominated much of the 20 minutes of play. There were numerous scoring chances for both the teams but no goals were scored in the early part of the period.
However, the Panthers managed to score in the 19th minute to establish a 4 goal lead to their advantage. The goal was scored by Michael Frolik from a brilliant shot. Buffalo Sabres restored some pride scoring in the
20th minute. The goal was scored by Derek Roy as the period ended with the Panthers leading 4-1.
During the course of the period, the Panthers made 7 goal attempts while the Sabres made 12.
The final period of the match saw the Sabres coming up with attacks after attacks right from the word go. But the Panthers scored in the very first minute through Stephen Weiss. The Buffalo Sabres with their strong attack managed
to score in the 2nd minute through Tim Connolly as the match ended with the Panther winning 6-2.
