NHL Latest – New York Rangers win 5-3 against the Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators played host to the New York Rangers this Thursday. The match saw the New York Rangers favourites heading into the match and they managed to win as predicted. This was the 415th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series
with both teams playing the 30th game of the season so far. There were around 16,000 fans who came in support of the respective teams at the Scotiabank Place.
Both teams made a great start to the match offensively but couldn’t manage the same dominance at the back. The away side came up with a good performance that saw them coming up with regular goal attempts.
However, it was the home team that caught them on a counter attack in the 3rd minute to take the lead of the match. The goal was scored by Mike Fisher from a brilliant flick shot.
The New York Rangers knew that if they had to win the match they needed to score as soon as possible. Their hunt for a goal started from the restart and they almost scored with the first play. It didn’t take them long to level the scores. The Rangers bagged
the final goal of the period in the 5th minute which was scored by Derek Stephan from a good strike.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period the New York Rangers made 6 goal attempts while the Ottawa Senators made 10 goal attempts.
The Ottawa Senators took the lead once again as they scored in the first minute of the 2nd period. The goal was scored by Jason Spezza. The New York Rangers also came up with a decent attack and managed to level the scores once again.
The away side scored in the 2nd minute through Ruslan Fedotenko from a powerful strike. The score at the time was 2-2. The Ottawa Senators with the home advantage scored once again in the 9th minute to take the lead once again. The
period didn’t see any further goals and ended with the Senators leading 3-2.
During the course of the period the Rangers made 16 goal attempts while the Senators made 10 goal attempts.
The final period of the match was totally dominated by the New York Rangers from the department of offence to defence. The away side levelled the score bagging a goal in the 4th minute. The goal was scored by Erik Christensen from a well placed
powerful strike.
The New York Rangers took the lead with the second goal of the period in the 15th minute. The goal was scored by Michael Sauer. The New York Rangers continued to press on right till the end where they scored once again to seal the win. The goal
was scored by Brandon Dubinsky in the 20th minute. The match ended with the New York Rangers winning the match 5-3.
