So, what are you regualrs up to these days?

I am a stay-at-home dad for 2 months (I teach)...so I am busy going to parks, libraries, museums, pools and parties. Not too bad. The girls (nearly 4 years old, and one 7 months) keep me on my toes. I'll also be getting up to Lake George in a few weeks.

  1. Just workin as a surveyor around Southern Alberta.  Seein some good ranching country around the porcquipine hills, and just hittin some fishing holes on the weekend.

Next weekend I'm checkin out some rodeo at the Calgary Stampede (a guy I grew up with is a bull rider in it this year, so that's cool).

August Long just goin to Invermere in BC and enjoyin some time with some friends.

Overall just watchin some good rodeo, enjoyin some warm weather, drinkin some good beers, and having  a good time.

  2. I am swimming. At the end of this month I'm going camping and then on vacation and to the hawks convention!

  3. ahh go to disney land for sure!

i went a couple years ago with my family and i was a teenager, my brother was 5..and it was fun for the whole family.

  4. Tennis ,  Chilling, & Work.

Sadly, I already had my vacation to the caribbean in april. :(

But it's okay , it's hella hot over here.

  5. Working and looking for work.  Going to Newark Bears games and the track.  Am I the only one who still misses RHI?  I used to love to go to NJ Rock and Rollers games in the summer.  What a contrast to Devils games.  A great way to spend summer nights.  At least until training camp opens.

  6. I'm off work for 2 months as well (supply educational assistant).  We are busy with our twins (4 yrs) playing tee ball for the first time.  We are spending a lot of time in our pool, riding bikes, the park.  We are going to my in laws cottage next week.  The yard seems to be full of kids all of the time, I love it!

  7. I was at an animal safari in Port Clinton, Ohio, and hung out in Sandusky, Ohio for a little bit as well (North Central Ohio area) all day today, good times. Other then that, I usually stay at home all day, nothing to do.

  8. On the 13th i'm going to North Carolina with a friend. She wants to go to the beach and look at a few colleges while we're there.

Other than that, my summer's been pretty lame.

  9. Swimming, chilling. Ive squeezed in some golf here and there.

Going to disney at the end of this month...i dont beleive the seasons ended till the first ever hawks convention which i am beyond excited about, just 11 more days!!!

  10. Picnic, church, bbqs, swimming, the gym . I saw Hancock.  Hanging out at the local coffee joint. Playing cards and trying not to get  sunburned. Fun stuff....being .lazy too..I sleep in!

  11. not too muchh, just hanging out with friends doing whatever we want..whenever i'm hanging out with my friends at like waterparks or anywhere random the word hockey always comes out of are mouth at least once haha. the only good thing about summer is that there's no school but once school starts its gonna be lame again but once october rolls around hockey will be back on & that seriously get's me through the school year.

  12. I'm working 5 days a week, and just chillin on the weekends. Nothing really planned until training camp starts...And that awful thing called school.

  13. Well, the people in charge of things say that I'm disabled, and no matter what I get every two weeks ever makes it seem justifiable. I'd rather be contributing to society than taking from it, but I did pay into it for 27 years, no company will touch me with a ten foot pole, and I do have to live, so I have to accept things as they are today.

I go to therapy 3 times a week, do what has to be done around the house, and try to stay out of the way.

In order to stay sane and contribute, I am part of a 12-step fellowship that helps us stay clean. In fact, today (7-6-08) is my 4 year anniversary. The program is beneficial to anyone that wants it, isn't subsidized by any government, and is the only way that I have tried that keeps me clean.

My situation is difficult on the mind more than anything because I always worked and I don't like being a bump on a log. I can't get any more specific about things except to say that I am complying with all that I am supposed to be doing and trying to keep from going nuts in the process.

I tell myself that there is a good outcome to this and others say the same. But at the age of 48 (on 8-30-08) I want to do more that I am told that I can do.

But life is better than I make it sound because it is the way it is. Being clean and sane has enabled me to live life better than I ever have. So, I say to myself, "Self, you ain't got everything you want, but you have everything you need. It can be much worse, so make the most of today."
