Honestly the last time I felt very happy for a player winning an award was in 2004 Marty St. Louis winning the MVP.

Here was a great college hockey player to watch and it seemed that his NHL career was going to be short because of his size. To see him blossom into a superstar and be the "Heart and Soul" of a team that went from being one of the worst to a Cup winner in short time really brought tears to my eyes. Even more touched when he scored that goal in Game 6 against his former team and he could have easly won the Conn Symthe that year over Brad Richards.

  1. I was happy to see Blake win and Lecavalier win. And that video and award for Gordie.

But i would of been really happy if St. Louis won the lady byng. He has been nominated several times for that award and still hasn't won. (St.louis is my favorite player)  St.Louis' determination is one of the reasons why i love that guy so much!!!

  2. Jason Blake. He battled through his cancer and didn't miss a single game.

  3. Jason Blake. Masterton for perseverance and dedication. The guy goes to a new team, finds out he has cancer during the physical, can barely buy a goal despite leading the league for high-lite reel saves and keeps on playing like its all an everyday occurrence. I don't recall him missing any games and lead the team in shots on goal, kept playing aggressively when he could have just went home and collected his big pay-cheques.This goes beyond what they had in mind when they started to award this trophy.

  4. I was very happy for Jason Blake & Pavel Datsyuk.

  5. Jason Blake... he really deserved the award. having cancer and all must be hard but  he stuck to it he never missed a single game and showed confidence! him winning really brought a smile to my face!

  6. I really liked the Lifetime Acheivement Award given to Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe tonight

  7. Jason Blake.  He deserved it... I mean cancer isn't a happy thing and it shouldn't be taken lightly...

Also the honorable mention on Zednik and the trainer made me feel happy.

  8. datsyuk finally gets the recognition for his great defensive play.  the best d is a good offense.

  9. kane-calder he deserved it he had a great season

  10. Pavel was deserving of his award tonight, quite happy for him!

I am really happy for all of them though, you will never see such humble and thankful atheletes such as hockey players IMO.  That is what makes them all great!

  11. Keep in mind Marty came into the league undrafted. That shows a lot of determination and drive to never give up.

I'm happy for Vinny to take home the Clancy. He provides so much for the community here and town.

  12. Gordie Howe. I was lucky enough to actually see him play.

  13. This year......? I didn't feel to happy for anyone really. Yes, Ovechkin is like my favorite player in the league, but still.......it didn't make me as happy as I thought it would.

Actually watching Brodeur up there tonight did bring a smile to my face......I actually started smiling and my dad started laughing at me. lol.

I was EXTREMELY happy for him tonight. I don't know how much longer he'll be around and he's always been one of my favorite people on this Earth.

Also, like you mentioned....When St. Louis won MVP in 2004 I was thrilled. I've always liked St. Louis and honestly, I don't think he gets enough credit for what he does.

  14. That Lifetime Achievement to Mr. Hockey himself made me pretty happy tonight. The night in itself makes me happy every year. All of these players are deserving of the awards they get. They work their whole lives to get to this point, and it's always great to be recognized for hard work.

  15. Gordie Howe...

  16. Kate I agree with you on Marty..Unfortunately I missed it tonite, My daughter turn 13 today so my #1 girl took first place today and I forgot to set the Tivo in my scrambles after work.I'm so glad that Broduer got himself another Vezina. not to take anything away from Nabby or Henrik but Martin is the best goalie in the league hands down. The runners up where solid Henriks record leader in shutouts and Nabbys win%, but it was honestly like comparing Mike Rictor and Mike Vernon to Patrick Roy.

  17. Patrick Kane winning the Calder. I don't know that much about the kid, but he had a great acceptance speech. He seems really down to earth and very appreciative of winning the Calder. I felt really happy for him after he stepped off the stage.

And Gordie Howe winning the lifetime achievement award, of course. He deserves it.

I felt happy that Nick Lidstrom won the Norris, too, because he's my favorite player and I love to see him recognized for his skills.
