NHL Preview Roundup (Part I)
The All-Star weekend ended with a bang as an exciting game saw Team Chara come out on top with a 12-9 victory over Team Alfredsson in the prestigious fixture.
Now National Hockey League (NHL) action will again take centre stage as 13 games are scheduled to be played on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012.
With the games heating up as we enter the business end of the season and players return back to their franchises nothing but total victory is required to keep ahead of the pack in the race for the playoffs.
Bettor.com will take a comprehensive look into each and every fixture to be played as we preview the first action packed day after the All-Star weekend.
Ottawa at Boston (7:00 p.m. ET)
Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara led his All-Star team to victory over Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson and will now be looking to repeat the same result on Tuesday.
Boston has been in brilliant form this year as they bounced back from a poor start to the season to end up second in the Eastern Conference before the start of the All-Star weekend.
The Bruins lost their last game to Washington Capitals on January 24th 5-3 after a close game was turned on its head with the Capitals scoring two goals in the final period.
Boston will now look to return back to winning ways when the Senators visit and with their captain returning from a big victory in the All-Star game will be confident of overtaking a recently struggling Ottawa side.
The Senators have lost their last three games but will provide a tough assignment for the high-flying Bruins.
Ottawa lost 3-2 against the Phoenix Coyotes last time out as they struggled to beat Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith who made 32 saves to keep his team in the game and send the Senators to a third straight loss.
Ottawa is sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 27-19-6 record.
New York at New Jersey (7:00 p.m. ET)
New York Rangers will look to improve on their two-point lead at the top of the Eastern Conference when they face the New Jersey Devils at the Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers are on two game winning streak and will look to add a third. Forward Marion Gaborik will look to redo his brilliant performance in the All-Star game at the weekend.
The Slovakian scored a well taken hat trick to power Team Chara to a win in the fixture and the Rangers will want more of the same from their star striker as we return to NHL action.
The Rangers won 3-0 last time out against the Winnipeg Jets as Henrik Lundqvist put in a brilliant performance in front of the net to shutout the struggling Jets.
New Jersey Devils lost 2-1 after a shootout with the Buffalo Sabres. The Devils have now lost three games in a row including a couple of 4-1 defeats as they struggle to break through their opponents.
The Devils are eighth in the Eastern Conference tied on 55 points with seventh placed Florida Panthers and ninth placed Toronto Maple Leafs and victory is a must if they want to maintain their playoff spot.
To be continued..
