NHL Recap: Los Angeles Kings beat Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3  
The Los Angeles Kings defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 in an exhilarating shoot-out period at the Nationwide Arena on Wednesday. Both teams made a great start to the game, but were unable to find a way past the goal-keepers. There were several chances
for both of the teams to win the game, but it could not be decided in regulation time. In over-time, neither team was able to score, forcing an exciting shoot-out, with the Kings taking the victory.
The Kings were able to dominate the game for long spells which resulted in them scoring in the 17th minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Justin Williams from a brilliant backhand shot. The Kings continued to pile pressure on the
home team.
The attacks kept on coming from the Kings, but Blue Jackets scored the next goal of the game after catching the opposing defence off guard. The goal was scored by Jakub Voracek from a brilliant shot in the 19th minute.
As the period neared its end, there were shots on goal from both sides but none of them found the back of the net. Both teams were level on 1-1 at the end of the period with the Kings making 10 goal attempts in the period while the Blue Jackets made 7 goal
attempts.
The second period also continued on the same road, with both teams almost coming up with the similar sequence of plays. During the course of the period both teams grew in confidence with the passage of time, but it was Kings who scored in the 14th
minute through Andrei Loktionov to regain the lead.
The lead did not last long, as Captain Rick Nash of Blue Jackets, scored in the 16th minute to level the scores. The period saw the Blue Jackets dominating the proceedings once against as the end approached. No further goals were scored as the
period ended with the scores level on 2-2.
The final period of the game saw the Kings step up their game from the start. The strength in their attacks proved to be too much for the Blue Jackets which resulted in them taking the lead for the third time in the game. The goal was scored by Drew Doughty
from a powerful strike.
To the delight of the fans, the Blue Jackets scored once again through Kris Russell from a backhand shot to level the scores. The period saw both teams making goal attempts, but they were unable to find the back of the net, as the regulation time ended with
the score level on 3-3.
The game went into over-time, but no goals were scored. Consequently, the game went into shoot-out where Jarret Stoll’s goal proved to be the difference as the Kings won the game 4-3.
