NHL Recap: Philadelphia Flyers beat the Florida Panthers 4-2  
The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Florida Panthers 4-2 in an exciting game played at the Bank Atlantic Centre on Wednesday. The Eastern Conference leaders, the Flyers dominated the game, with repeated shots on goal. The Panthers managed to pull two goals
back in the final period, but the Flyers scored in the final minute, sealing the victory.
The win meant that Flyers are only two points behind the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League standings. Danny Briere was named the star of the game for his goal and two assists.
The Flyers were on top of their game right from the start, as they attacked and defended really well. Their passing was superb from the start to the end of the period. The Flyers, despite being under pressure managed to score in the 9th minute.
The goal was scored by Mike Richards from a decent strike.
The constant hard work put in by the Flyers paid off once again, as the away-side doubled the lead with their second goal in the 10th minute. The goal was scored by Andreas Nodl from a superb tip in shot. The period continued with the Flyers continuing
to fire shots on goal. No goals were scored during the remaining part of the period, as the Flyers led 2-0 at the end of the first period. During the course of the period, the Flyers made 18 goal attempts while the Panthers managed just five.
The Flyers continued to put pressure on the Panthers from the start of the second period. James van Riemsdyk successfully scored in the 6th minute to take the lead to 3-0. The Panthers also came out strong in the period, but it took them some
time to get going. Once they settled down, the home team dominated the game. The passing and shooting of both teams were excellent, but unfortunately they were unable to find the back of the net.
The period ended with the Flyers leading 3-0. The Panther made 11 goal attempts, as the Flyers managed 8 attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play started off on a high for the Panthers, as they successfully scored through Rostislav Olesz from a brilliant back-hand shot in the second minute. The Panthers were definitely the stronger of the two teams, as David Booth scored
from a decent flick shot in the 13th minute. The Panthers continued their search of finding the equalizing goal, but it was Flyers who scored the next goal through Danny Briere in the final minute to seal the victory for the Flyers.
The game was a hard fought battle, with both teams trying to scrape through for a victory. It will be interesting to see how the Flyers carry their winning momentum into the rest of season.
