NHL Special Report – Nashville Predators thrash Los Angeles Kings winning the match 5-2
The 603rd game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere was played with Los Angeles Kings hosting the Nashville Predators. The match was played at the Staples Centre with around 18,000 coming to attend the match. The match was played this Thursday with
both teams playing the 40th game of the campaign thus far. The first period of the match ended goalless but both teams turned the tables in the final two periods to score bunch of goals with Nashville Predators winning 5-2 in the end. Colin Wilson
was named the star selection of the match with his goal and two assists.
A positive approach to the match was adopted by both teams as they attacked right from the start of the match. Goal attempts and some spectacular pieces of play were the main elements of the period. There were several chances for both teams to score and
take the lead but no goals were scored.
The period moved on swiftly with each team making goal attempts regularly. Despite the numerous goal attempts in the period no goals were scored and the period ended with the scores deadlocked on 0-0. During the first period Nashville Predators made 11 goal
attempts while Los Angeles Kings made 12 goal attempts.
Los Angeles Kings made a great start to the second period and scored through Kyle Clifford from a backhand shot to take the lead in the 3rd minute. Los Angeles Kings with the strong attacks scored once again in the 8th minute to double
their lead with the goal scored by Jarret Stoll from a powerful strike.
Nashville Predators responded immediately and scored two goals in succession to level the scores. The first goal was scored by Colin Wilson in the 9th minute while the second was scored in the 11th minute by Marek Svatos.
The home crowd was silenced as Nashville Predators took the lead with another goal in the 15th minute through Patric Hornqvist’s tip in shot. The period ended with Predators leading 3-2 as they made 10 goal attempts while Kings made 6 goal attempts.
The first half of the final period was dominated by the Los Angeles Kings as they came up with brilliant passing and shooting. However, with the passage of time the Predators grew in confidence as managed to score through Sergei Kostitsyn in the 10th
minute. The away side sealed the match with another goal scored by Patric Hornqvist in the 16th minute.
The period and the match ended with the Nashville Predators notching a win 5-2 against the Los Angeles Kings. During the course of the final period both teams made 8 goal attempts each.
