NHL Team Power Rankings for the 2011-2012 Regular Season –Week 12 Part 2
Now when there are a number of top notch players on a team and they still are unable to take the team anywhere despite winning the Stanley Cup championship in the past few seasons and reaching the playoffs every time, it certainly is a disappointing situation.
Anaheim Ducks (28)
The Anaheim Ducks are a well rounded team consisting of top quality defenseman, forwards and a great goalie but they still cannot seem to win matches, making them a one of a kind team in the National Hockey League (NHL).
The Ducks also had their coach, Randy Carlyle, fired and replaced by fired Washington Capitals coach, Bruce Boudreau earlier, which has not changed anything noticeable in them.
Anaheim at the moment has 23 points and stands at the 14 number position of the Western Conference with a 9-18-5 record in the past 32 games they have played up until now in the season.
Anaheim Ducks ranks at number 28 this week.
Los Angeles Kings (27)
Los Angeles have seen much better days in their history as a team in the NHL, which certainly puts them in an embarrassing position at the moment as they stand at the 10th number spot with 32 points and a 14-14-4 record.
The Kings have managed to win only two games in December so far and have lost six of their last seven contests including a very disappointing, 8-2, loss against the Detroit Red Wings.
Bruce Boudreau is heading the team and it does not seem like he is able to make an noticeable changes as of yet.
Los Angeles Kings stand at number 27 in the power rankings for week 12.
Calgary Flames (26)
Fortunately, Calgary made a good run in the past few weeks as they current stand tied at with the Los Angeles Kings with 32 points and a 14-15-3 record. The Flames are getting worse as they have failed to secure a single win in the past four contests in
week 12 of the season by having lost to the Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime, Florida Panthers in a shootout and finally the Chicago Blackhawks.
Calgary stands at number 26 at the end of this week.
Edmonton Oilers (25)
It is hard to believe that at one point in the regular season, Edmonton was at the number one spot in the Western Conference and now they are under their struggling provincial rivals with 31 points at the 12 number spot.
One match before the week started, Edmonton was shutout by the Flames in a 3-0 disappointment, it only followed with Phoenix Coyotes dominating with a 4-2 victory and San Jose Sharks edging them 3-2 for three straight losses.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, their top 2011 NHL Entry Draft pick, will have to start taking his teammates along with him instead of scoring goals that lead to losses.
Edmonton is number 25 this week.
Colorado Avalanche (24)
The Colorado Avalanche are struggling no doubt but week number 12 has been a little better for them as they won two out of their three contests with one loss against the San Jose Sharks by a single goal, 5-4.
Colorado is just like Edmonton, a team with young players that were on the top at the start and now at the bottom. They will certainly have to pick up the pace if they plan on getting anything productive done this time around.
