NHL Update – Chicago Blackhawks win 3-2 against the Los Angeles Kings

Chicago Blackhawks hosted the 2nd game of Sunday as they played host to the Los Angeles Kings. This was the 486th game of the regular season with the Hawks playing their 35th game while the Kings competing in the 31st
game of their campaign. Around 22,000 fans attended the match at the United Centre with high expectations from the home team. Recently, the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks are starting to step up their game and come up with wins. This Sunday was part
of it as they managed to bag victory 3-2.
Los Angeles Kings made a decent start to the match as they fired shots early on that didn’t allow the home team to settle. The plays that led into the shots were absolutely amazing and sometimes it was almost certain that the Kings would score.
However, the Hawks managed to put up some pieces of play together to shake the opposing team’s defence. Regularly getting past the Kings defence, the home team successfully scored in the 12th minute to take the lead of the match. The goal was
scored by Jonathan Toews from a decent strike.
Both teams had several chances of scoring but neither of the team was able to score as the Hawks led 1-0 going into the break. During the course of the period the Chicago Blackhawks made 9 goal attempts while the Los Angeles Kings made 8 goal attempts.
The 2nd period started on a high for the Los Angeles Kings as their strength to be quick out of the blocks at the beginning paid off. The away side managed to score and cut the lead. The goal was scored by Kyle Clifford from a decent strike.
However, it didn’t take long for the home team to score and regain 2-goal lead to their advantage. The goal was scored by Duncan Keith from a powerful strike in the 2nd minute. The Hawks pressed on in search of another goal. In doing so they came
across numerous goal scoring opportunities out of which they converted one in the 13th minute. The goal was scored by Fernando Pisani from a brilliant flick shot.
The period ended with the Chicago Blackhawks leading 3-1 as they made 11 goal attempts while the Los Angeles Kings made 9 goal attempts.
The final period saw the Los Angeles Kings start off strongly as expected and successfully scored in the 2nd minute to cut the lead to 1 goal and hope for an equalizer. This didn’t happen as the home team’s defence was up to mark and restricted
the Kings to long range shooting only.
The only goal of the period that the Los Angeles Kings scored was in the 2nd minute through Wayne Simmonds. The Chicago Blackhawks won the match 3-2 after close fought last period.
