NHL Update: Montreal Canadiens win 3-0 against Philadelphia Flyers
Tuesday, 16th November 2010 saw Montreal Canadiens play Philadelphia Flyers. This was the 255th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series that was played at the Centre Bell Arena, home of Canadiens. It was the 19th game
for Flyers while Canadiens' 18th. The match was played in front of 21,000 fans that came to support their teams.
The 1st period started on a high for the away team as they fired shots every now and then but the match saw its first goal being scored in the 10th minute in favour of the home team.
The goal scorer was Michael Cammarelli who scored through a well placed flick shot that went flying into the back of the net to put the home team in lead. Both teams displayed excellent skills while in possession and their passing enabled them to get past
the opposing defence regularly.
The period ended with Canadiens leading 1-0 as they made 11 goal attempts while Flyers made 13.
The 2nd period saw the away team make a spectacular start once again as their attacks had greater force. Not only were the attacks greater in strength but also greater in number. Despite this, Flyers couldn’t score during the 20 minutes.
However, the home team was content on registering a win this time out and they scored in the 14th minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Tomas Plekanec from a decent flick shot.
The period ended with Canadiens leading 2-0 as they made 8 goal attempts while Flyers made 20 goal attempts.
The 3rd period saw Canadiens again come up with a dominating performance as their pin point passing and powerful shooting was seen appreciated by everyone. The home team was able to score in the 7th minute to establish 3 goals to their
advantage.
This goal was scored by Brain Gionta through an extravagant backhand shot that found the back of the net. The period saw both the teams come across more scoring chances but they couldn’t score as the match ended with the Montreal Canadiens winning 3-0. The
final period saw Flyers making 8 goal attempts while Canadiens 9.
