NHL Update: Nashville Predators beat Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1
The 577th game of the Compuware NHL Premier Series saw Nashville Predators beat Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 in front of over 15,000 fans at the Bridgestone Arena on Sunday.
Columbus Blue Jackets made a great start to the match as they successfully scored with the first attack of the match. The goal was scored in the 37th second through RJ Umberger’s tip in shot. The home team dominated possession and came up with
some brilliant pieces of play but failed to capitalise from them.
On the other hand, Predators with the passage of time were able to come up with decent pieces of play. They had numerous chances to score too but failed in doing so. The first period ended with Columbus Blue Jackets leading 1-0.
During the 20 minutes of play Columbus Blue Jackets made 8 goal attempts while Nashville Predators made 7 goal attempts ending the period on a high.
Predators started from where they left off in the first period. Not only was their offence strong but the defence was also up to the mark restricting the Columbus Blue Jackets to long-range shooting only.
It did not take long for the Predators to level the scores as they scored in the third minute through Shea Weber to level the scores. With the hard work continuing, the away side kept on piling the pressure and came up with a number of goal attempts.
They were rewarded for this with a goal scored by Nick Spaling in the 14th minute which put the away side in the lead. The Predators wrapped up a dominating period’s performance with goals by Patric Hornqvist.
The period ended with the Predators leading 3-1. During the course of the period, Blue Jackets made 5 goal attempts while the Nashville Predators made 11 goal attempts.
The final period saw the away side continuing with strong attacks which resulted in them scoring once again in the sixth minute through Sergei Kostitsyn. Though the Columbus Blue Jackets made attacks and came across scoring chances but they failed to capitalise.
The period and match ended with the Nashville Predators winning 4-1.
