NHL Update – Philadelphia Flyers win 4-1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs hosting the Philadelphia Flyers was another tight matched held this Thursday. The match was played at the Air Canada Centre of the Maple Leafs in front of around 19,000 fans. The home team played the 28th game while the
Philadelphia Flyers played the 30th game of the season with this being the 413th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series.
Toronto Maple Leafs started off in spectacular fashion as expected and then fired shots at the opposing goal regularly. They couldn’t score in the early stages of the match but the fans kept on urging their teams to attack and score.
The away side scored the first goal in the 12th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Ville Leino from a well placed flick shot. The away side after taking the lead pressed on in for search of another goal. They successfully scored in
the 13th minute to double the lead. The goal was scored by Chris Pronger from a powerful strike.
Both teams had the same goal attempts but the Philadelphia Flyers were more productive of the two teams. The period ended with the Philadelphia leading 2-0 as they made 10 goal attempts while the Toronto Maple Leafs made 9 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw both the teams making a slow start. It took some time for the teams to settle and get into the rhythm. The away side started to come across scoring chances once again. They successfully scored third goal in the 13th
minute. The goal was scored by Danny Briere from a decent strike.
The Toronto Maple Leafs responded to this with a few attacks too during which one of them was converted into a goal in the 17th minute. The goal was scored by Mikhail Grabovski from a decent strike.
However, the period ended with the Flyers scoring once again in the 18th minute. The goal was scored by Danny Briere from a superb backhand shot. The 2nd period saw the Toronto Maple Leafs making 13 goal attempts while the Flyers made
9 goal attempts.
The final period of the match didn’t see much happening as neither the Toronto Maple Leafs nor the Flyers managed to score during the 20 minutes of play. The period ended without any goals being scored during the 20 minutes with the Flyers winning the match
4-1. During the period, the Flyers made 9 goal attempts while the Toronto Maple Leafs made 10 goal attempts.
