NHL Update: Toronto Maple Leafs win 4-1 against Dallas Stars

Toronto Maple Leafs were up against Dallas Stars this Monday at the Air Canada Centre in front of 19,000 fans. The home team played their 20th game while Stars played their 19th as it was the 298th game of 2010 Compuware
NHL Premiere Series.
Both teams made decent starts with a focus on their defences. The home team capitalized on one goal chance in the 11th minute and scored to take the first lead. The goal came of Nikolai Kulemin through a perfectly placed flick shot. With this
goal, the 1st period ended at 1-0 in favour of the home team as Leafs made 7 goal attempts while Stars made 6.
The 2nd period was pretty much even as both teams cancelled each other out most of the times. Nevertheless, Leafs scored again in the 15th minute to double their lead. Once again, the goal scorer was Nikolai Kulemin. Stars responded
by piling up attacks. Resultantly, they were able to open their account with a goal in the 16th minute, scored by Brad Richards.
Despite their lead cut out, Leafs scored in the 18th minute to regain the 2 goal advantage. This time, the goal was scored by Tyler Bozak which took the overall match score to 3-1 in favour of the home team. The 2nd period thus ended
as leafs made 10 goal attempts while Stars made 9.
The final period didn't saw any change in both teams' respective strategies with the main emphasis still being on the defences. However, this didn’t work for Stars as Leafs scored once more in the final minute to seal the match 4-1. The goal was scored by
Kris Versteeg from a flick shot.
During the course of final period, Toronto Maple Leafs made 9 goal attempts while Dallas Stars made 7 goal attempts.
