Atlanta Thrashers win 7-1 against the New Jersey Devils
Atlanta Thrashers are back on the winning road after a series of defeats. The Thrashers continued their journey on the winning road this Saturday as they hosted the New Jersey Devils and absolutely thrashed them by winning the match 7-1.
Though both teams made a decent start to the match, the home team got stronger and stronger with each passing minute. Though the first goal came in the 11th minute, the game was totally dominated by the home side. The Atlanta Thrashers' passing
and smooth movement along the flanks left the opposing team stunned.
The first goal was scored by Ron Hainsey from a well placed flick shot that put the home team in the lead. The Atlanta Thrashers was content on doubling the lead as soon as possible. Their hunt was successful as they scored in the 16th minute
to double the lead. The goal was scored by Eric Boulton who took the score to 2-0.
After less than a minute, the home team managed to score once again to complete a dominating performance in the period to take the score to 3-0 with the final goal scored by Evander Kane in the 17th minute. The Thrashers lead 3-0 at the break
and made 11 goal attempts in the period while the New Jersey Devils ended with just 4 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the away side coming up with a much better performance but on a whole, it was the home team that dictated the match. Not only did they take control of the proceedings, but they attacked every now and then.
The first goal was scored by the home team, that was fully supported by the home fans, in the 7th minute to take the score to a very well 4-0. The goal was scored by Andrew Ladd. It looked as if the New Jersey Devils were down and out but they
managed to restore some pride by scoring in the 16th minute. The goal was scored through a powerful strike by Ilya Kovalchuk that went flying into the back of the net.
The period ended with the score 4-1 in favour of the home team as the fans cheered them on. During the course of the period the New Jersey Devils made 11 goal attempts while the Atlanta Thrashers made 7 goal attempts.
Though the New Jersey Devils was productive in terms of goal attempts, the Atlanta Thrashers took the game away from the Devils, scoring as many as three in the period.
The main reason for this was the fact that the Devils committed all of their men on the attack as they went forward in search of a goal. The first goal was scored by Eric Boulton in the 5th minute.
The Thrashers had more in mind and pressed on further and scored in the 17th minute which resulted in Eric Boulton scoring and completing his hat-trick.
The period and the match saw the final goal scored by Chris Thorburn through a decent flick shot in the 19th minute. The match ended with the Atlanta Thrashers coming up with a dominating 7-1 win against the New Jersey Devils.
