In the second match on Thursday, the Buffalo Sabres played host to the San Jose Sharks. Though the Sharks were expected to win this match of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series, yet the Sabres came up with a brilliant performance to win the match 6-3.
San Jose Sharks made the first goal attempt but with the passage of time, the Buffalo Sabres also came up with an impressive performance. The home team backed by the home crowd successfully got past the defence but they could not score.
The Sabres came close to scoring on several occasions but they were denied either by the goal post or by the goal keeper. However, the Buffalo Sabres scored in the 13th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Paul Gaustad from a decent
long range strike.
The San Jose Sharks had the share of the chances as they came up with good opportunities as the period neared its end. The San Jose Sharks failed to capitalise from tons of chances they got as the Buffalo Sabres led 1-0 going into the game.
The Buffalo Sabres was able to start quickly once again in the second period and scored in the 7th minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Thomas Vanek from a powerful strike. The Buffalo Sabres continued with strong attacks and managed
to bag their third goal in the 14th minute. The goal was scored by Jason Pominville from a wonderful flick shot.
The San Jose Sharks also scored a goal in the 16th minute as a response. The goal was scored by Logan Couture. The away side cut the lead to 1 goal as they scored in the 20th minute. The goal was scored by Marc-Edouard Vlasic from a
superb strike.
The period ended with the Sabres leading 3-2. During the course of the period, the Sabres made 18 goal attempts while the San Jose Sharks made 8 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the Buffalo Sabres scoring in the 31st second of the period. The goal was scored by Cody McCormick. The Sharks scored once again to keep in touching distance with the away side. The goal was scored by Douglas
Murray from a powerful strike in the 10th minute.
However, the final minute of the period saw the Buffalo Sabres scoring twice to seal the match. The first goal was scored by Paul Gaustad while the second was scored by Thomas Vanek. The match ended with the Buffalo Sabres coming up with a brilliant performance
to win the match 6-3.
