NHL Updates – Dallas Stars beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 despite the away disadvantage
Scottrade Centre was the venue for the 576th game of the Compuware NHL Premiere Series which was played this Sunday. The match saw the home team, St. Louis Blues playing host to the Dallas Stars in front of 19,000 fans. This was the 40th
game of the season for the Dallas while St. Louis Blues played their 38th game. Brenden Morrow proved to be the difference between the two teams scoring two goals as the home away side won the match 4-2.
Both teams started the match with an attacking mentality maintaining a decent defence at the start of the match. However, as time passed the attacks got stronger and stronger and defence started to face a lot of trouble.
The home team was the first to take advantage of this as they scored in the 14th minute through David Backes from a simple tip in shot to take the lead. Dallas Stars immediately responded to this with attacks and long range shots.
As a result, the away side successfully levelled the scored through Brenden Morrow’s goal in the 15th minute. After scoring the equalizer, Dallas continued to attack leaving a lot of gaps open at the back. The home team caught them on a counter
attack in the 19th minute and scored to take the lead once again. This time the goal was scored by Alexander Steen.
The period ended with St. Louis Blues leading 2-1 with both teams making 12 goal attempts each.
The home team was the stronger of the teams on the attack but the away side was able to neutralize this with a decent defence that cut the attacks regularly.
Though there were times when it looked that the home team would score once again but they didn’t. On other hand shots flew from everywhere on the pitch but no goals were scored during the 20 minutes of play.
St, Louis Blues still led 2-1 and made 11 goal attempts in the period while Dallas Stars made 5 goal attempts.
The final period started with Dallas Stars attacking right from the word go. They managed to score in the 3rd minute to level the scores with the goal scored by Brenden Morrow. Brad Richards also got his name on the score sheet bagging a goal
in the 7th minute from a simple tip in shot to put the away side in the lead.
Dallas Stars sealed the match with James Neal’s goal in the 18th minute as the Dallas Stars won 4-2.
