NHL Updates – Dallas Stars win 5-2 against Montreal Canadiens

The 499th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Dallas Stars play host to the Montreal Canadiens. The match was played this Tuesday at the American Airlines Centre in front of around 17,000 fans. This was the 34th game
of the regular season for both the teams with the Dallas Stars coming up with the win 5-2 at the end.
Dallas Stars made a brilliant start to the match. They didn’t attack but kept possession and settled down. This gave them time to work and implement the strategy they had devised. With the passage of few minutes, the home team put the foot on the gas and
scored in the 7th minute to take lead. The goal was scored by Adam Burish.
Dallas Stars continued to pile pressure on the away side with the constant attacks. The determination and hard work of the Dallas Stars saw them scoring once again in the 14th minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Jamie Benn from
a decent backhand shot.
The period ended without any further goals with the Dallas Stars leading 2-0 as they made 7 goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made 10 goal attempts.
Dallas continued with the superb form into the 2nd period firing shots regularly. They managed to score once again in the 3rd minute through Karlis Skrastins to take the score to 3-0.
The away side managed to open their account with a goal in the 11th minute through Mathieu Darche. However, the Dallas Stars responded to this with attacks after attacks which resulted in them scoring through Brad Richards in the 17th
minute. The goal was scored as a result of a powerful strike that went flying into the back of net.
The period ended with the Dallas Stars leading 4-1 and they made 5 goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made 10 goal attempts.
The final period was again a very tight and technical battle that saw both teams cancelling out each other on certain occasions. However, Montreal Canadiens struck first blood in the period as Brain Gionta scored in the 13th minute from a powerful
strike.
The match was wrapped up by the Dallas Stars as Loui Eriksson as scored in the 14th minute through a simple tip in shot to win the match 5-2. During the course of the match the Dallas Stars made 17 goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made
29 goal attempts.
