NHL Updates – Defending Champions Chicago Blackhawks finally register a 4-3 win against Los Angeles Kings
The 584th game of the regular was played between Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings. The match was played at the Staples Centre, home of the Los Angeles Kings with around 18,000 fans coming to witness the match. The match saw the momentum
shifting every now and then and each team levelling the scores again and again but in the end, it was the Hawks who scored the final goal of the match and won the match 4-3. Patrick Sharp was named the star selection of the match with his two goals and an
assist.
Los Angeles Lakers didn’t waste any time and put the foot on the gas right from the word go. They could have very well scored with the first shot of the match but the shot went just wide of the target. The home support gave them a further boost which encouraged
them to go on the attacks regularly.
This worked for the home side as they scored through Michal Handzus from a flick shot to take the lead in the 5th minute. Los Angeles Kings continued to pile pressure till the very end but they lost the lead after the Hawks caught them on a counter
attack to and scored through Marian Hossa to level the scores in the 19th minute.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1 and Hawks making 6 goal attempts while Los Angeles Kings made 13 goal attempts.
The restart saw the Hawks carrying their form into the second period. The strong attacks and excellent combination saw them scoring in the 8th minute through Patrick Sharp to take the lead once again. Chicago Blackhawks kept the pressure on the
opposing team throughout the period but Los Angeles Kings showed some resistance at the end.
The determination led the home team to score through Ryan Smyth from a flick shot to level the scores in the 19th minute. Kings ended the period with a few more shots on target but didn’t score.
The scores were level on 2-2 once again with Hawks making 12 goal attempts in the period while Los Angeles Kings made 5 goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play were evenly matched by both the sides with Hawks making 10 goal attempts while the Kings made 11 goal attempts.
Chicago Blackhawks struck first blood in the period scoring through Patrick Sharp in the 5th minute to take the lead once again. Los Angeles Kings worked hard but they couldn’t score. Los Angeles Kings worked hard to score and in doing so came
up with some brilliant pieces of play. They successfully levelled the scores since again in the 13th minute through Ryan Smyth’s tip in shot.
This set the home crowd wild but a few minutes later, they were silenced by brilliant goal scored by Jonathan Toews which proved to be the winner as the Hawks won 4-3.
