NHL Updates – Pittsburgh Penguins host the Tampa Bay Lightning
The second game of Wednesday will be hosted by Pittsburgh Penguins as they will be up against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This will be the third meeting between the two teams. Tampa Bay Lightning won the first match on the 27th of October 5-3. The
second match between the two sides was on the 12th of November which saw the Pittsburgh Penguins win 5-3.
One of the talented and spectacular additions to the Tampa Bay Lightning was Dwayne Roloson who made 34 saves in his debut game against the Washington Capitals this Tuesday as they won the match in overtime 1-0.
"You're just trying to worry about what you have to do to help the team win, especially with the new environment and everything else," said Roloson. "There's a lot of different things going on so for me personally, I was just trying to focus on what I had
to do and control the things I could control and give our guys a chance to win."
Tampa Bay Lightning’s win against the Washington Capitals was finally a win after their two losses during which they were outscored 12-3. Another achievement that came with the win was the fact that they took the lead of the Southeast Division. Martin St.
Louis’s goal in overtime earned the Lightning the crucial two points at a very important stage of the season.
"They embarrassed us the last time we were in here. They beat us twice before and we wanted some revenge," center Steven Stamkos said. "I thought we finally played our game against these guys. We've done it against other top teams, but we haven't done it
against them until tonight. I think they got a glimpse of what to expect from us the rest of the year."
Tampa Bay Lightning has currently played 40 games out of which they have won 24 games in regulation time and another 5 wins have been registered in overtime as they sit in a comfortable position with 53 points. On the contrary, Pittsburgh are one position
ahead of the Lightning in 4th as they too have played 40 games and won 25 games in regulation time and 3 games in overtime.
Pittsburgh Penguins are facing some difficult times as they have lost the last two consecutive games. The first of these was against the New York Islanders as they lost 2-1. The second loss came against the Washington Capitals in one of the winter classic
matches as they lost 3-1.
"It's frustrating," Pens goalie Marc-Andre Fleury said. "There was so much build-up to the game. It's definitely disappointing to lose that one."
Currently Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis is in superb form and has scored 17 goals this season so far. In the player standings, he ranks second with 51 points. One of the things that needs to be mentioned is that Pittsburgh Penguins Captain
Sidney Crosby has scored no points in the last few consecutive games. This has happened for the fifth time in the season and this time at the cost him the 25 consecutive points scoring streak.
