NHL VS CHL Hockey??

Question

Which leauge is better? I know this may sound like a subjective question but hockey is Canada's game, yet in the US we only really hear about NHL (which I assume is an American leauge despite having Canadian teams as well??)

So is one leauge held in higher regard than the other? For example, NFL football is more popular and pays more than CFL. So it would seems to me than CHL hockey would be higher on teh food chain than NHL

i vote NHL, the guys are about 2x the size and can skate just as good if not much better than CHL... plus the hits are harder :D

The CHL, if I understand your question correctly, already exists. It was once a top-tier minor league on par with the AHL.

It has folded at least once in the past ten years and has reformed. It's a farm system with players from all over.

NHL is professional hockey

CHL is junior hockey - players not payed to play

the CHL is comprised of WHL, OHL, QMJHL - this is just major junior hockey (players are aged 16-21)

i think ur looking for ECHL

so really theres no comparison

NHL Is better than the CHL.

Here are the reasons why;

1. The CHL DOESN'T have the Stanley Cup

2. NHL is the largest Ice Hockey league in the world.

3. It's what kids dream about playing in. I'm sure they don't want dream about playing in the CHL. lol

4. There isn't any Detroit Red Wings fans in the CHL, so we don't see any Octupus' at any of the games.

5. Guys are bigger, more skilled, so you see bigger hits, better fights and lots of amazing dekes.

I'd have to say NHL is more popular

Reasons:

1. It has the greatest superstars including canadians and of course russians and other people lol ;)

2.It is in both the US and Canada so offers for the both countries

3. There are 30 teams so you have a good chance of living close to one..

The NHL is NOT an American league. It is a league run by 30 owners, the NHL and the NHLPA...in both Canada and the USA.

The NHL is so far above the CHL (Central Hockey League) in terms of skill its not even a comparison.  Same goes for the Canadian Hockey League (Jr league hockey, not professional)

Don't get me wrong.  Minor league hockey (sports in general) can be great affordable fun.  The games just tend to be a little slower paced and sloppy but since everybody is at the same level its competitive.

NHL (highest level)

AHL (AAA, top minor league)

ECHL, CHL, IHL (AA, mid level minor league)

SHPL (A, lowest level minor league)

CHL to the NHL is like comparing 3rd division college football to the NFL. It's not even close.
