NHL and NHLPA likely to meet again this week to find the solution of the ongoing dispute
National Hockey League (NHL) and NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) officials are expected to meet to find the solution and discuss the ongoing dispute, which cancelled the pre-season and first two weeks of the regular season.
The problem between the both associations could also result in a lockout for whole season and they are facing a lot of criticism from the fans and the general public. So this has resulted in the holding of negotiation talks which are expected to take place
this week. It is expected that the meeting will take place in New York, on Wednesday or Thursday.
It was told before that both of the sides are contacting each other and finding solutions on the phone as they could not find the solution in the last meeting which was held in the last week.
Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL was expected to talk to his counterpart from NHLPA, Donald Fehr where the deputy commissioner of NHL Bill Daly was expected to keep in touch with his counterpart, Donald Fehr’s assistant Steve Fehr.
There have been many statements from both sides and both of them looking for different ideas to outsmart their oppositions during this whole episode.
There are also speculations that NHL’s commissioner Gary Bettman would be thinking about introducing the replacement players in the league. It would mean that all those players who are not affiliated with NHLPA, and are playing in the American Hockey League
(AHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Western Hockey League (WHL), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and all the minor leagues, would be eligible and could feature in NHL. But replacing 700 top players with some junior players may not be the right idea.
Many of the NHL players have already signed with other leagues, as most of the foreign players have gone back to their countries and signed with native leagues, which are also among the top leagues in the world, like Elitserien Hockey League (SEL), Finnish
Hockey League, Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) etc whereas American players are signing in the minor leagues.
