  1. There are as many reasons for fighting in hockey as there are reasons for fighting, period. It can make any of these statements:

"Don't ever do that to him, again"

    "I'm better than you"

"We are better than you guys"

    "Sure is quiet in here"

"Welcome to the big leagues, kid"

"I better do something before they send me back"

    "Wanna rematch?"

"Geeze, you'd think nobody ever slept with your wife before"

You already told us why it's accepted.

  2. Back in the old days you had one guy on your team who was known to be your " Enforcer " . Hockey is a game of speed, skill, and passion, but sometimes it could get dirty. Your enforcer was just that, you get a low blow on my guy, you will get a visit from our guy. Not like today, anyone can and will drop the gloves. If they would only get rid of the instigator rule, then maybe players would think twice about high sticking someone, for the fear of god, or your enforcer in this case

  3. they fight to get their team pumped up

  4. if you havent noticed hockey is a pretty intense and physical sport. the players are passionate about the game and sticking up for their teammates.  fights can start out of anything from trash-talking to helping a player out. and its accepted because it is and always has been a part of the game.

  5. Each team is like a family, they protect and defend each other with their fists. I have four brothers and they don't play hockey, but if one of them got hit the other 3 would be right there to right what they felt was wrong. Hockey teams are no different, they just get paid for fighting, it's part of their job! Fighting is not nearly as accepted as it once was. They barely get a punch thrown before the refs are in there to break it up!

  6. You've been given a very good short course in "Why Do They Fight?"

You should have been around in the "Old Days" - Reggie Fleming anyone?

What I notice is that it's the do-gooder, "Oh my God, they're fighting!"  people who get all hepped up about it. They're like tree huggers. They don't know a damned thing about hockey.

It's part of the game. That's the basic line. They've taken a lot of the fun out of it already.

The so-called "new" "fans" are the ones who don't want fighting. These are the people who don't keep score in Little League games and give awards to EVERY kid in the class.

    True hockey fans accept it.

Quit s******g around with it and "DROP THE PUCK!"

  7. Hockey is a physical game that requires so much passion, and the players care so much that fights are inevitable.  They occur because there is such a strong seance of teams' man ship that if a cheap gets thrown on a teammate you step up and defend him.  They are accepted because they are a part of the game, always have been, always will be.

  8. Part 1

Fighting is an important part of the game it creates momentum for swings in the game, adds entertainment, and keeps the game under control. The momentum is important  to get your team going.  The entertainment... well who doesn't like a good fight? It keeps the game under control because with out fight s when players get mad they would take that anger out in cheep shots that causes more problems.

    Part 2

Its not just fighting to kill someone there is an unwritten code between enforcers in the NHL. If some one is hurt or something the other guy wont make him fight. When some one is hurt from the fight they will stop,

  9. there are many reasons why hockey players fight- 1. to protect other teammates. 2. to stick up for other teammates. 3. To rejuvenate their team if they are loosing and to get fans back into it. 4. In hockey there is so much passion and tension going on between teams its just inevitable that teams fight sometimes. 5 if there is a little scrum and guys are just pushing and shoving and then someone gets punched and then other players start punching a fight might happen but its just part of the game

its excepted because of how hard and how much passion and tension are in each game. yea even true fans get into fights but its the fake ones who watch hockey to see a fight. Hockey isn't all about fighting- that is a huge misconception about hockey- the first thing on a players mind isn't to get into a fight its a having a good game and helping out their team.

  10. Hockey is physical game. They must have have some history before them that he checked him he interfeared with him he punched my brother nd all that. I gurantee you that you will see more than 1 fight in a hockey game. Fights can also begin if someone starts to be cheap and each team are like brothers and sisters say crosby and koivu get into a fight other team mates will come and help them malkin will come and help crosby kovalev ill help koivu they defend each other as well

  11. because they syc the teams up and give the teams more energy they do it cuz they get angrey @ the other player
