NHL latest – Chicago Blackhawks win 4-1 against the Detroit Red Wings
Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings were previously up against each other in October. The match was won by the Red Wings 3-2. Chicago Blackhawks were content on coming up with a strong performance this time out as they played the 471st
game of the season. The match was hosted by the Hawks this Friday as they played the 34th game of the campaign while the Detroit Red Wings played the 31st game. There were around 22,000 fans that came to witness the match.
Both teams are very well known for the strong attacking capabilities they possess. The Hawks being the defending champions had the advantage of playing on home turf and they capitalized from it to the maximum.
The home team was undoubtedly the stronger team and dominated play for much of the period. They had the numerous chances early on out of which they converted one in the 2nd minute to break the deadlock. The goal was scored through a spectacular
shot by Patrick Sharp who was in splendid form.
The Hawks continued to press which resulted in them coming across more scoring opportunities. The home team successfully scored in the 5th minute to double the lead. The goal was scored by Bryan Bickell from a decent strike.
Detroit Red Wings were very well aware of the fact that they had to score as soon as possible if they wanted to embrace victory. The away side did just that - they scored in the same minute to cut the rivals lead to one goal. The goal was scored by Patrick
Eaves from a decent backhand shot.
The period ended with the scores 2-1 in favour of the Chicago Blackhawks with numerous goal attempts made by both teams.
The 2nd period was not as productive in terms of goals as well as goal attempts but it was still entertaining.
Brilliant pieces of play were observed from both the sides with the Hawks scoring in the 12th minute to regain a 2- goal lead. The goal scorer was Tomas Kopecky from a well placed decent flick shot. The period saw the Hawks coming across more
scoring chances as they were the dominating force in the period but no more goals were seen. The Blackhawks led 3-1 at the end of the 2nd period.
The story of the final period was the same with the Detroit Red Wings not coming up with anything significant. However, the home side sealed the match with a fourth goal in the 19th minute of the final period.
Tomas Kopecky scored once again as the Blackhawks won the match 4-1. The final period saw the Red Wings making 7 goal attempts while the Hawks made 5 goal attempts.
