NHL latest – Minnesota Wild win 3-2 against the Phoenix Coyotes
The city of Phoenix hosted the 417th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series this Thursday. The home team Phoenix Coyotes was up against the Minnesota Wild in front of 8,000 fans at the Jobing.com Arena. The match was anticipated to be
a very tough and close battle which certainly lived up to the fans expectations. The match was the 27th game of the season for both the teams in the season.
The Phoenix Coyotes made a strong start to the match during which they fired venomous shots at the opposing goal but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net. The away team wasn’t allowed to settle down, therefore, they were seen on the defence early
on in the period.
With the passage of time the away team started to come up with some brilliant pieces of play that put them in scoring positions. Minnesota Wild’s hard work and determination saw them scoring in the 7th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored
by Andrew Brunette from a phenomenal backhand.
The home team responded to this with attacks too but it was not until the 15th minute that they scored to level the scores. The goal was scored by Taylor Pyatt from a simple flick shot. However, Minnesota Wild scored once again right at the death
of the period to go leading into the break. The goal was scored by Brent Burns. The score was 2-1 in favour of the away team as they made 11 goal attempts while the Phoenix Coyotes made 13 goal attempts.
The 2nd period was evenly contested between the two teams as they fought hard to score and simultaneously came up with a wall solid defence. Both teams had the share of the chances but neither of the teams scored during the 20 minutes of play.
The period ended with the Minnesota Wild still leading 2-1. No goals were scored during the course of the period as the Minnesota Wild made 11 goal attempts while the Phoenix Coyotes made 10 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the Minnesota Wild scoring the first goal of the period in the 11th minute. The goal was scored by Andrew Brunette from a decent strike. The home team also managed to score in the 20th minute but it
was a little too late. The goal was scored by Taylor Pyatt from a brilliant close range perfectly placed finish. The game ended with the Minnesota Wild winning the match 3-2.
During the course of the final period the Minnesota Wild made 11 goal attempts while the Phoenix Coyotes made 12 goal attempts.
