The National Hockey League (NHL) has completed the process of nomination of players and officials for this year’s awards to be given to them for their performance and contribution during the 2011-2012 season.
As of the latest, the NHL has disclosed names of three top coaches for this year’s Jack Adams Award, which will go to the best coach of the league.
According to the nominations, St. Louis Blues’ coach, Ken Hitchcock, New York Rangers’ John Tortorella and Ottawa Senators’ Paul MacLean, have made to the list this year.
One of them will be given the award at the ceremony to be held at the Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas.
The ceremony is the annual feature of the NHL, attended by stars from entertainment and sports industries and notable figures from some other segments of the society.
The star-studded event will held on June 15, 2012. By then, each leading personality will be voted to be the best in each of the top ten categories, either by NHL’s 30 franchises owners or NHL Writers Association.
For this year’s awards, the NHL started nomination process on Friday, April 20, and with the announcement of three finalists in each category, it closed it on April 30.
Some of the players have been selected for a category successively over the past few years, while others are nominated in more than one category during this season.
The final say in analysis and rating of a player or official is with the voters who weigh them on the basis of their respective qualities and different aspects of their talent and skills.
More or less, the on-ice performance of any player and role in development of the squad of any coach remains the main benchmark in determination and quantification of their talent and skills.
