i think that akron would be an awsome place for an NHL team. I think that akron deserves a famous sports team. i know that they already have the aeros but that is minor leage baseball. there to close to the cleveland Indians for a MLB team so would it be possile for akron to have a NHA team?

  1. Isn't Akron only about an 45min from Cleveland? If they were to move someone to Akron I would think just go to Cleveland and then Cleveland would have a big 4.

Which surprise me, I've had friends in Cleveland and it seems like a really good market too.

  2. An NHL team in Akron Ohio?... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vfSk-6tI...

  3. How Big is Akron?

  4. Why not Cleveland? Then we'd have Baseball,Basketball,Football, and Hockey!

    What about soccer?

  5. I think CBJ is about all Ohio can handle.  If you had two expansion teams at the same time you would share too many fans in an already lacking fan base.  It's not like Ohio doesn't have the population to support another team because they are 7th in the nation just above Michigan in total population.  The problem is, there are about 11 million Ohio residents and 10 million Michigan residents, with about 5 million Michigan residents who watch the Red Wings as opposed to MAYBE 1 or 2 million hockey fans in Ohio at best.  That's just speculation, but honestly I don't think a franchise would do well in Akron.  I hope there are a lot of others like you in Ohio, because the Blue Jackets need your support.  Columbus might not be close to Akron, but if Michigan doesn't have two teams, I don't think Ohio could support another.  Take pride in the Jackets and hope that they can get their franchise off of the ground.  I certainly hope they can.  The Central Division needs more intradivision competition.

Edit - whoever gave me thumbs down for telling it like it is (in a completely inoffensive manner, I actually SUPPORT the Blue Jackets and I'm a die hard Wings fan), kiss my white ***.  Akron can't support a hockey team, plain and simple.

  6. Ohio has a lot of trouble with just one franchise. They can't handle two.

  7. dude i live 45 minutes away from akron akron doesnt need a hockey team they are just now building a new stadium for the zips football team downtown. plus ohios team is the Jackets. plus they would have to build a whole new arena or make center ice in canton a whole h**l of alot bigger. i play there, its way to small and renovationg that for the NHL would be just as much as building a new one

  8. I don't think so. The Columbus Blue Jackets are only 2 hours away and there are many locations that are (in my eyes) more deserving of a team.

  9. I doubt it, the area isn't exactly the wealthiest and in this economy, I don't think anyone wants to pay a lot of money to see sports except football. Maybe someone from Hudson can afford to, but I know I can't as a college student. It'd be a luxury to me. The downtown area isn't the most abundant in terms of available places to go shopping or eat so it'll be hard trying to attract people there if you're trying to build the arena in that area. When people go downtown, it's usually to take care of business and when they're done, they go home. Not many people linger.

  10. No way...!!! In fact, the NHL should fold several of the current franchises...  The ""product' is too "watered down" as it it..

Hockey in Nashville...??   Columbus...? Pheonix...? Two teams in Florida.. Far too many in California...  If it wasn't for the "sharing of the pot" by the NHL, these teams wouldn't even exist any longer..

  11. Forget NHL in Akron.  I don't even think there is much interest in putting an ECHL team there.
