NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr planning with Players for next action on Lockout -NHL Update
Donald Fehr is a celebrated negotiator when it comes to dealing in lockouts and labour deals between various sports leagues in North America and getting new collective bargaining agreements between the stakeholders.
With experience in Major League Baseball (MLB) as well, the players are well behind him and are supporting his every move when it comes to sending their message to the league and working out a new deal with them.
"He's amazing," Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall said, according to freep.com. "Amazing. He's very interesting to listen to. He's done a great job making sure that everyone is informed. He really wants to make sure that everyone was and is on
the same page, regardless of what time zone you're in. So far, he's been doing a great job making sure everyone knows what's going on."
Some players might be resistant to compromising on any of their terms and conditions, Donald Fehr is wiser when it comes to dealing with hot blooded players and an even more experienced league, which is why he has refrained from being emotional at any point
of the negotiation process thus far.
The best thing about Donald Fehr, according to the players that are working with him on developing a new proposal to end the current lockout, is that he keeps them all updated along with taking everyone on board before making a final decision. He is reported
to send out mass emails to all the stakeholders and runs the show for them.
"We're definitely a lot more unified, a lot more together, a lot more informed," Danny Cleary added. "Guys are a lot more involved, and we're all on the same page."
As the NHL is currently going through its fourth lockout in 20 years and second in less than a decade, the situation between both sides is intense as neither one seems to be willing to budge even an inch on their stance, but having veteran negotiators like
Donald Fehr looking after them, the Players’ Association is assured of getting a fair deal in the end.
Updates should be expected in the upcoming days as both sides get ready to meet again on Wednesday.
