NHS funding outwith the UK..?

I know its possible to get NHS funding for surgery within the EEC, but is it possible to obtain that funding for the same surgery within the USA instead? If so, does anyone have any good sites with information on the above..?

I think you'd have to write to your PCT to see if they would fund treatment. I know certain treatments are only available in the US, there was a guy in the Daily Mail newspaper recently (I know, I know, abhorrent newspaper) but he was diagnosed with C of the Pancreas, and there is treatment available in the US called Cyberknife therapy, in short, it saved the guys life.. he is fighting the PCT for them to pay for at least some of the cost. Of course if is just minor surgery your after it is unlikely they will fund, specially if treatment is available closer.
