NJ to CA drive????

Question

I am planning to drive from NJ to CA san diego later this month on my Infiniti i30 1999 with 140 k no problems on the car except for the check engine light which is on , and i am planning to make a drive in 4 to 5 days , the problem is will be driving alone, the max i have driven alone is 1500 miles one way , do you guys think it is a good idea to do this trip since shipping and flying is too expensive also cannot sell and buy car since its too much of a hassle , please help me out with any suggestions and tips you can if i am driving? or do you guys think its too risk to make a trip on a vehicle with 140 K

thats funny cuz i want to drive from NJ to san diego CA too! but im broke right now.. but yea.. i think you shud be fine just get ur car checked before u go.. good luck!!

I wouldn't be to nervy about this trip (it sounds fun) people drive across country alone every day. First I would get the check engine light looked at, second I would change the oil, replace points plugs that sort of thing look at my spare.  Second I really would push it on one long drive I fell asleep at the wheel just for a sec.  It was one of the most unnerving experiences of my life.  Make arrangement to sleep, get some good CD's and you'll be fine.

I would not attempt to do this in 4-5 days with someone else, let alone all by yourself.  You need to stop and rest.  If you try to drive 10 hours straight without a break you're going to get into an accident.  

I don't know about your car, if it's in good general condition then it should be OK.
