India Red won the one-day game against India Green in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy 2011/12 by eight wickets at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vidarbha-c860 Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.
The match was interrupted by rain after which Jayadevan system, also known as the VJD method was brought into play to help calculate the target required by India Red to win the game as the second innings was reduced to 42 overs.
Earlier, in the day after winning the toss, India Red chose to field first, aiming to restrict the opposition on a meagre tally.
However, India Green openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srikkanth-Anirudha-c90816 provided a stupendous start to their side as both batsmen played the opposition with zeal, clobbering shots all around the park.

The Red team hit jackpot when in the next over they grabbed their third wicket when India Green opener Anirudha after playing an innings of 37 runs was also caught by wicketkeeper Saha off the bowling of TP Sudhindra.
With three wickets down for 107 runs on the board, things were looking bad for India Green who were heading towards a complete meltdown after taking off in an astounding manner.
Middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Kaif-c77040 then took matters in his own hands as he batted brilliantly against a belligerent opposition by trying to counter all attempts of grabbing his wicket.

Kaif scored 29 runs while Gautam could bolster only 19 runs as India Green managed to post 170 runs on the board.
India Red knew they needed to bat with calculation as there was no telling if rain would interrupt play.
India Red took off to a flying start as the side had posted 45 runs without the loss of any wicket in eight overs when the match was interrupted by rain.

Nonetheless, Mukund’s 61-run knock helped the side win the match by posting 152 runs in 29 overs.
