NLD???Or Aspburgers????

Question

I have both NLD and aspugergurs syndrom. Anyone else out there who has it? If so, whats your personallity? Mine is shy quiet tall chubby guy who is kinda wierd and likes to read about history and go on the computer.

I have NLD and I tend to blend in to my circumstances and who I'm interacting with. I can be outgoing or shy. A lot of the time I will shut down if there is too much going on around me or too many people involved. Asperger's is diagnosed more behaviourally, whereas NLD is diagnosed through pyschological testing, so I suppose it would be possible to get diagnosed with both from two different medical perspectives.

You shouldn't have both, as the two are very similar and most folks feel they "rule each other out"--meaning, if you meet criteria for one, you get that diagnosis instead of the other.  Most psychologists that I know are often trying to figure out whether an individual's presentation is that of NLD or Asperger's.  I don't know any psychologists who would diagnose both.  That being said, if you've been evaluated by more than one psychologist, they may have come to different conclusions (one said NLD, the other said Asperger's).  

I doubt you got a diagnosis of NLD *or* Asperger b/c you are shy, tall, and chubby.  Or, for that matter, if you read about history and enjoy the computer.  Both of these conditions  have to do with weaknesses in the social realm of your personality.

My son has both. He's a tall skinny guy who self-defines as a geek (geeks are smart, dorks are not, and they dress better than nerds...his def, not mine lol) He likes to write programs, and takes apart computers. Loves video games, especially old school...he's a nintendo fan boy. He's not really quiet, he'll talk to anyone about his favorite topics.
