Question:

NLHE: What are hands you would never play?

The famous example is Doyle's dislike of aq, but are there any hands you just don't like to play?

My personal hated hands:

1. 96 suited: i probably get this hand 10% of the time, never played it, never would have had the winner.

2. AJ: Not a bad defensive hand, but i always get nailed when I try to push with it. It seems like every time I try, I face AQ, AK or a big pair. Last night I folded it when it flopped a straight. :(

3. QQ: I'll push with it if I'm short stacked, but otherwise, I'm beginning to think I should start folding it after a re-raise. I get a lot more luck with any pairs except these.

  1. YOU NEED TO QUIT PLAYING THE CARDS SO MUCH AND START PLAYING THE PLAYER

  2. I tend to suffer for the hands I love.

    I love suited connectors and gappers, esp 10 8, 10 9, 10 J ... but they are usually donation hands.  I limp, I lose.  I raise, I lose.  I check-call, I lose.  I check-raise, I lose.

Now that I mention it, I'm not sure what's to like about those hands .......

Hands I'd rather not get include upper-mid pairs 88-10 10 and any Ace below an AQ (unless it's suited.)  When I see those hands, I'm usually looking for an excuse to fold them ("Hey, his lip trembled when he limped in.  I'm outta here!")

But I have to say, I think QQ is way underrated.  I LOVE the ladies, and I've had won a ton of hands with them (and more than a few against them ... never thought of that before... hhmmmmm.)

  3. I tend to always get an A7 suited or unsuited and for some reason i have to play it and everytime i lose, but i keep playing it. I've been playing poker for years and i know the odds but it just looks like good at the moment and i cant lay it down.

  4. I try to stay away from playing baby aces, like A2-A8.

  5. 2 8 off suit

  6. Doyle's Hand of 10 Duece is by far the worst. I hate that hand more than any other.

I've folded it in my big blind before when everyone just called and it was to me. That's how bad I did not want to see a flop with it. You know it's a bad hand if you fold you big blind.

I flopped a boat with it in the big blind once and still lost. That was the last straw. I will never put any ammount of money in the pot with 10 Duece.
