I do not have a leak in my AC unit because I had it serviced last year -- but it is just hot, hot, hot!!!

I have it set at 75* (it's hot here in Texas, about 100 plus now) It reads 80 for goodness sakes. What can I do to make my house COLD and not just "cool"

Thanks in Advance Seriously!!!

  1. If there is no operational problem then the unit is just too small to keep up with the amount of heat getting back in the house.

If there is not anything abnormal about your home or usage then there is something wrong with the unit or it's too small for the home when the temps are that high outside.

  2. When you mean serviced, do you mean cleaned or did you have the filter drier replaced?  The unit may be undercharged that is why it is not cooling as it should.  The refrigeration system is a closed system and you are correct there should be no leaks.  However if there is less refrigerant than there should be, you unit will not cool as it should and there is either the possibility of a leak it was undercharged after servicing.

  3. move to New York

  4. Your unit needs to be serviced each year for the best proficiency.

Call your HVAC company back out and explain, it could be a different problem

  5. Hosing the house down should help

  6. 20 degree differential is pretty good. Just because your thermostat is set at 75 doesn't necessarily mean your house will cool to 75.
