NO MONEY IN THE BANK?! HELp?

so early, i signed up for a student accont at bank of america. got my card, etc. and finally hand in my check in the machine. but it says I HAVE NO MONEY. what do i do with this? it's my first time handing in a check in the machine.

it takes a day or so for the check to clear.

When you deposit a check at a bank there is a waiting period before the money is available to you.  they have to let the check clear the other bank which means they have to make sure the person who wrote the check actually has that money in their account.   If you both bank at the same bank this could take one day, if you bank different places it could take up three or four days.   Also if you make a deposit to a ATM  machine there could be additional waiting time.  

If you got a reciept from teh machine for your deposit hold on to it, and if in a few days it still says you have no money then go in the bank and talk to a human being.
