I saved a project on windows movie maker, now when I try to reopen it, the time line pictures all come up as X's, and it won't play anything! Me and my friend worked really hard! Please, how do I get it back??

    It's most likely doing this because it can't find the files you used to make the video with. Make sure that all the pictures, video, sound that you used to make the video with haven't been deleted or moved.

What happens with Windows Movie Maker a lot is that if you move the files or even change their names, the link is broken and you can't see the images.  I think if you right-click on the frame or go to one of the menus at the top, you can do 'fix broken links' and get the images back.  My advice would be to use Photostory (download for free from microsoft.com) or Power Point because it actually imports the picture into the file and it doesn't matter if you even delete the picture, it will still be in the show.  I quit using Windows Movie Maker a long time ago.  Or, if you really want to use it, finish the show and then convert it to a Windows Media file, which will play with Windows Media Player, Real Player, and others.  This way, your pictures are actually part of the file and not just links, so you will not lose them.  You'll probably have to re-import your pictures and place them in the correct spots again.  Sorry!
