  1. It's very sad, I agree.  Some people you think will live forever but unfortunately nobody does.

He had been really sick the past few years, if that gives you some small comfort... He is now resting in peace and is no longer suffering.

It's tough when a favorite actor dies, of course, but he was really sick with Alzheimer's disease, which is a horrible, disgusting illness.

    RIP- Charlon Heston.

  2. Intentionally placing this question under royalty is nonsense.

This should have been under Entertainment/Celebrities surely. As for why, everyone dies. He was 84, had Alzheimers & prostate cancer. He had a great life but it was just his time to go.

  3. He was old... a greater actor the world will likely never see. RIP

  4. Oh, no!!! Moses is dead!

Seriously, I'm saddened, but not terribly surprised.

  5. He has had Alzheimer's the last few years.  I just heard he died too.  What a great actor.

  6. Because he was old and sick, and death is the natural conclusion to life.  He lived a long and productive life.  We honor him by remembering and celebrating his many accomplishments.

  7. I think Moyra and Sue have it right given the Moses role, but wouldn't movies be the right area or are you thinking no one would care ?

  8. BIG shame a great actor only good thing is we will get to watch all of his films again I'll be glued to the box from now on,  too many of the greats have gone John Wayne, is just one example.

  9. This section relates to Royalty. Shouldn't this have been posted in R&S?

  10. Charlton Heston had the grace to announce publicly in 2003 that he was showing symptoms of Alzheimer's--a heart-breaking, progressive disease that affects both those who suffer from it as well as their caretakers.  Among the famous diagnosed with Alzheimer's include President Ronald Reagan as well as many familiar celebrities:  Charles Bronson, Perry Como, James Doohan ("Star Trek's" Mr Scott), Arlene Francis, Rita Hayworth, Otto Preminger, Sugar Ray Robinson, E. B. White, and Harold Wilson.

Families of those who have been so diagnosed should know that in addition to taking the now familiar Alzheimer's medications, such as Aricept and Excelon, patients suffering from Alzheimer's and similar dementias can benefit from physical, occupational (above the waist), and speech therapy (all covered by Medicare Part B).

They should also take some hope in the news that those with dementia occasionally retain some skills from days gone by;  for example, like the fictional character in Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook", my mother, who was diagnosed with pre-cognitive dementia in August 2000, and who was further diagnosed with all the symptoms of frontal temporal lobe syndrome in October 2005,  still plays the piano beautifully, even doing some sight reading.

I regretably placed Mother in a facility specifically for Alzheimer's patients last month after caring for her at home for three years.  If you have to put your loved one in a nursing facility, make sure to look at all the homes available in your area, checking for an attentive, caring staff and no signs of obvious neglect like the pungent smell of urine.  Also, make sure to visit him or her if possible on a daily basis--it makes a difference in the care.  Above all, there's no need to stay away--Alzheimer's isn't catching!

  11. yes...

    juz accept the fact...
