I'm a mac fan and have been for a long time. I know how to use PCs very well, and am typing this on one now, but i much prefer macs. i do have my issues with pc's, and i know pc people most likely will never like macs, and i'm not looking to change that. i'm just curious about a few of the finer points in the argument.

*Multi-button mouse. this is a big one. i hear this more often than all the rest. sad part is, it hasn't been true for a couple years now. the mighty mouse has 5 programmable buttons plus a scroll wheel. why keep using this argument? and what's wrong with one-button mice anyway? you can get all the functionality of the right click by control clicking (the puck was 1998-2000, so that's old news, too)

-price. i hear that they're expensive, too. however, when built out and compared to a dell with the same parts, the mac was almost $1,000 cheaper (search for details)

-arrogance. apple fans like apple. some microsoft fans like microsoft. ever meet a red socks fan? they can be pretty nuts, too. just because apple has a fan following, why would that turn you off to the company as a whole? i don't see people turn off the game when a fat guy has "EAGLES" written across his chest.

-i don't feel like typing any more, but you know how this plays out. let me know of any other arguments you have. remember to back them up!

  1. the cheaper thing is so not true, defo macs are more expensive

u need to do a bit more research

    @@ GAMES!!!! @@

  2. One thing:

Have fun playing high-end PC games years after they come out.  You can either wait for the developer to release a Mac version or wait until the GPU hardware catches up to be able to play modern PC games.

Also, I challenge someone to find a Mac as powerful as my PC for less than I paid for my PC.

    Q9300 Quad-Core 2.5GHz

    Gigabyte X48 DQ6

    4GB RAM

    500GB HDD

    8800GTS (G92)

    X-Fi Fatal1ty

$800 after rebates and building it myself

    Add another $100 for Windows

Add $100 more for an Antec 550w PSU and Cooler Master Mystique case

    $1000 total

If someone can show me a Mac with the same/better specs for gaming than this for cheaper, I'll convert.  I'll buy a Mac next time.

EDIT: I still have yet to see a Mac with the GAMING capabilities of my PC for less than I paid for my PC.

You showed workstations and laptops not meant for gaming and in some cases apples to oranges.  Also, I keep my laptops until they die.  Resell value means NOTHING to me.  I had my (by most standards lame) GeForce 420mx Go 2.0GHz laptop for 6 years before I got a new one.  By the time I would have been ready to sell it, no one in their right mind would have bought it for more than $50.  I used it on deployments to the desert, so it had about a half a pound of sand in it when I cleaned it the last time.

  3. They are for stupid people. There is no ability to adjust setting (for real). It allows people to be completely computer illiterate and just get by. It is a fashion icon. If your hip and trendy you have to have a mac. You instantly become and iSheep when you walk into the apple store. I pods are great but macs are find for elderly and super young. Anyone else should be learning the guts of the computer so we don't get any more terribly stupid questions on here. You cant overclock the computer. 10 percent of all software runs on a mac.

  4. Mac's use proprietary hardware and software.  PCs have an open standard.  Meaning that anyone can make hardware or software for the PC.  This gives PCs flexibility and variety that Macs can't even get close to matching.  If you want a super cheap box so grandma can send and receive e-mails, a brand new PC can cost less than $400.  If you're rendering 3D graphics, you can buy a multi-core, multi-processor PC with 8 GB RAM, 2 TB of HDD space, and dual SLI video cards with water cooling and a custom case.  Mac can't supply either of those.

The majority of software available is natively written for the PC.

The VAST majority of gaming software available is native for the PC.  Macs have real problems playing top of the line games.

Their commercials and advertisements annoy me.

I could do this all day.
