NOT being able to community service as punishment?

Question

So last night I was watching a really good movie til 2am. My mom finds me, gets mad because it's too late, and her way of "punishing" me is to no cancel my volunteer orientation later today.

Am I the only one to find this insane? Don't most parents make their children do this? I dont't even think watching TV at 2am is that big of a deal, it's summer.

I'm only 14, so I can't drive myself. I am limited with what I can do.

Well I guess shes trying to take away something you like. I think she's afraid watching tv really late is going to turn into a habit because. My mom used to get mad at me for watching tv late, her saying was "tv never ends."- but in spanish.

Thats stupid doesnt she relize she is hurting alot more people than just you by doing that!

Yeah that is pretty weird. I mean community service helps the community. Why should the community be punished? Plus like you said that's something most parents would make their kids do as punishment.
