  1. put it on a stand alone week

would also solve the player burn outs for most of the players. the SoO players wouldnt complain seeing as they will still get paid $10,000+ a match

  2. Yeah I agree

  3. It has already been tried a few years ago without any luck! State of Origin has been played on every day of the week except for a Sunday night. I doubt they will move it from the Wednesday night format. I hear Queensland want it during daylight savings so they see how NSW play before they are due to start!

  4. i think it should stay the way it is .... for many reasons one reason is::::: it gives the younger players a chance to shine in the top grade (it can un earth the next super star) while the rugular players have origin duties!

players and coaches just need to suck it up! and get on with the job at hand!

if you want to continue the debate e-mail me, i have a thousand reasons why it should stay!

james ag...... the words quality and the roosters should never be used in the same sentance!

  5. Yeh i mean the mid week game is something we all love and everything but it does make is hard if ur team is hit hard.. storm had 10 players out tonight against the titans... and it happens to the broncos every year.. something needs to be done!

  6. yea it makes the worst teams in the comp (Manly) look like the best. Its the only way forward, and Origin i think will b played on the wkd next year

  7. No it shouldn't be moved to a weekend just because it 'disadvantages' leading clubs. How much of a disadvantage is it really. In the last 20 years the Broncos have won more premerships than any other clubs and, from memory, there have only ever been two seasons when the Broncos haven't supplied more players than any other club.

If the top clubs don't have the foresight to bolster their playing rosters with enough talent to cover the Origin period then they aren't thinking about the long-term status of their roster. The byes that clubs have during the season are all during the representative season but it is unfair to say that these should be stacked towards giving those teams a guaranteed bye leading into an Origin match.

That is called favouritism which would not be tolerated by those clubs considered to be at the bottom end of the competition. If you were a South Sydney fan how would you feel if you saw a draw that gave Storm or Broncos a break leading into Origin and then your team were up against them the next week when they are back to full strength. You'd feel pretty cheated wouldn't you?

  8. If Manly is the worst team in the comp then how did they make the grandfinal last year?  I feel sorry for the Roosters losing players, especially cause the Bulldogs don't have any more for them to steal... ha ha unless you want Sonny Bill Liability!

The match between the Storm and Titans should have been one of the best of the season, and instead it was pretty boring.  But then again 3 weeks with only one game of league would suck too...

Maybe they should organise the draw so that teams with lots of Origin players like the Storm get the bye the week before Origin, therefore they would be at no disadvantage.

For the record, Manly should be in the same situation, but our players don't get picked due to the bias of powerbrokers in the game, so don't complain too much

  9. I agree its not the ideal scenario im a broncos fan so had to deal with it 4 20 yrs  but the one positive is u get to see the next crop of stars and some old guys get there chance to measure up on the wkend i witnessed  superb efforts from u20  players  josh hoffman  tomane  tony williams    28 yr old brad davis got his chance 4 titans and killed it  so not all bad

  10. Someone ends up suffering either way. Shorten the season and fit in the Origin series on a weekend stand alone fixture then some of the clubs suffer financially.

Lengthen the season so as to fit in the Origin series and you risk player burnout and alot of injuries leading up to the finals.

Like it's been said before, there is no perfect solution so players, fans and coaches (especially Craig Bellamy) need to deal with it... I can't even recall Wayne Bennett complaining about it after all his years in charge of Brisbane.

  11. doesn't matter when its played clubs are always going to lose out.should keep mid-week games play games over 3 weeks with no club games over that period.

  12. yes cuz quality sides like roosters, storms and broncos suffer alot and it's unfair cuz crappy sides get an advantage like rabbitohs, manly and especially eels(lololololololollol couldn't even beat roosters without 5 of our top players)

    EDIT

semi con the word sentance should never be used!!(lolololololololollol roosters raped eels even without our best players.)

  13. i dont think that it should be moved to weekends, but im getting sick of people getting injured or going origin training and causing their team to lose especially cowboys :(
