NRL Round-22 preview
With only five rounds left in the 2010 National Rugby League regular season the competition is heating up. The top teams look to hold on to their spots heading into the post season, while the squads at the bottom of the table are looking to keep pushing in the hope of keeping their season going.
Cowboys vs. Broncos
The Cowboys will take on the Broncos at home in the first game of the week on Friday.
The Bronco are sitting in seventh spot and looking to build off last weeks upset over the Dragons, while the Cowboys are trying to get out of the basement, and stop the bleeding after losing their 14th of the season to the Panthers last week.
Titans vs. Eels
The Titans will be at home to the Eels on Friday at Skilled Park. The Gold Coast side will be looking to keep up their impressive run that sees them sitting in fifth place. Last weeks important victory over the Warriors has turned some heads as the Eels prepare to jump up from 10th spot.
Sea Eagles vs. Storm
Normally any game against the Storm is considered a gimmie for the other side. However the Storm have now won two in a row, and the Sea Eagles are coming off of a loss to the Knights. Nevertheless, the Sea Eagles are in sixth place and this game should mean more to them. Expect them to come back strong against a last-placed Storm side.
Sharks vs. Warriors
The second-to-last place Sharks are at home in Toyota Stadium this Saturday against the New Zealand Warriors.
The Warriors are still battling for a play-off spot, currently sitting in eighth place, and are interested in making up for their loss at home last week to the Titans.
The Sharks had a strong Round-21, as despite losing they played well against a tough Wests Tigers side.
Rabbitohs vs. Wests Tigers
It has been tough to make out what type of teams the Rabbitohs are this year, as they have remained inconsistent throughout the season. They will try and right the ship against the Tigers at home on Saturday.
Still fighting for the play-offs the ninth place Rabbitohs have a massive stake in this match.
The Tigers have been in the hunt for top spot all year and another two points can help them towards that goal.
Knights vs. Bulldogs
The Knights will play host to the Bulldogs at home in the first game on Sunday.
The Bulldogs are riding a two week winning streak, their latest coming against the Rabbitohs. Sitting in 13th spot with 18 points they will have to run the table to get into the post-season.
The Knights are in a similar position coming off of a win over the Sea Eagles on Monday. The Knights sit in 11th spot with 20 points, putting them four points out of a play-off spot. Like the Bulldogs, they will have to go all out from now to try and make the post-season.
Roosters vs. Dragons
This is perhaps the most important game of the week, as the Roosters are at home to the Dragons in the second game on Sunday.
The Dragons are coming off of a loss to the Broncos over the weekend, and have looked spotty since their bye week. They will need to put up a strong performance if they wish to beat the Roosters and hold onto their top spot.
The Rooster will jump to first position with a win on Sunday, but will have to go through a skilled Dragons side. However, the Roosters are coming off an eight-try performance over the Eels last Saturday.
Raiders vs. Panthers
The Raiders play host to the Panthers in the Monday night affair, at home in Canberra.
The Panthers have been chasing the Dragons in the table for some time, and with a tough game for the Dragons, this could be the perfect time to take over the top spot.
The Raiders will have to try and get it together as they sit in 12th and hope to make the play-offs.
