NRL round-23: preview
The 23rd round of the NRL season is set to go this weekend, and promises to be another exciting instalment in what has been an electrifying 2010 season. With only four rounds left to play the race for the play-offs is in full swing.
Broncos vs. Eels
The first match-up of the week will see the Broncos host the Eels in Brisbane.
The Broncos are coming off of a win over the Cowboys, and will be interested in moving up the table with a win over the Eels.
The Eels suffered a loss at the hands of the Titans last week, and will hope to rebound against a tough Broncos side.
The Broncos currently sit in seventh with 26 points, while the Eels are in 12th place with 22 points.
Sharks vs. Roosters
The Sharks welcome the Roosters to Toyota Stadium in the second match-up on Friday night.
The Sharks have struggled all year, and are coming off of a loss to the Warriors. They have a tough task trying to get back on form against a strong Roosters club.
The Roosters meanwhile are coming off of a tough loss at the hands of the Dragons, and will hope to get back on track.
The Sharks are currently in 15th with 14 points, while the Roosters are in third with 28 points.
Titans vs. Cowboys
The Titans will host the Cowboys at home in Skilled Park in the first Saturday game of the week.
The Titans have put together an impressive end of season record and will look to continue their winning ways against the Cowboys.
The Cowboys have not been able to pull it together this season, and have been relegated to the role of spoiler.
The Titans currently sit in fourth place with 28 points, and the Cowboys are in 14th with 14 points.
Bulldogs vs. Raiders
The Bulldogs welcome the Raiders to ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs suffered a major defeat to the Knights last week, which bumped them from play-off contention. Therefore they will be aiming to spoil the Raiders chances of improving their place in the table.
The Raiders are coming off of an exciting Monday night win over the Panthers, and will look to continue their strong play next week.
The Bulldogs are in 13th with 18 points, and the Raiders are in 11th with 22 points.
Warriors vs. Knights
The Warriors welcome the Knights to Mt. Smart Stadium in Sunday’s first match-up.
The Warriors are barely hanging on to the eighth and final play-off spot, and will be aiming to improve their position late in the season.
The Knights meanwhile are attempting to run the table and steal the final spot from the Warriors, making this weekends match an all important meeting for the Newcastle club.
The Warriors are in eighth with 26 points, while the Knights sit in 10th with 22 points.
Storm vs. Rabbitohs
The Storm welcome the Rabbitohs to Melbourne’s AAMI Park this weekend.
The Storm have nothing to lose in this weeks match-up and will look to spoil the Rabbitohs play-off plans.
The Rabbitohs are edging close to a play-off position, making next weeks game against the lowly Storm a necessary victory.
The Storm are in last place with zero points, while the Rabbitohs sit in ninth with 24 points.
Wests Tigers vs. Panthers
Wests Tigers will challenge the Panthers at home in Campbelltown Sports Stadium next week.
Both the Tigers and the Panthers are coming off of losses last week, and will need to improve their game plan if they hope to maintain their spots at the top of the table.
The Tigers sit in fifth with 28 points, while the Panthers sit in second, also with 28 points.
Dragons vs. Sea Eagles
The Monday Night game will feature the Dragons hosting the Sea Eagles in Jubilee Stadium.
Both sides managed victories last week. The Sea Eagles are hoping for a win to help cement their play-off spot, while the Dragons will be interested in extending their hold on the top of the table.
The Sea Eagles are in sixth place with 26 points, while the Dragons are in first with 32 points.
