So, I have decent grades in high school. To get a scholarship, you need good grades. What I plan to do is join the marines for a few years first, and then go for NROTC marine option. My question is..if I had decent grades in high school is it possible to get into NROTC? Or have I already screwed that up by not doing so well in HS?

ps.my grades are like C's, B's and few A's

  1. HS doesn't really s***w anything up, ever. It's usually the things you do outside of HS that s***w you, drugs, criminal record. I wouldn't worry about grades.

On a side note, if you are looking for college money and want to involve the military I would recommend you check the Air National Guard. Their benefits blow away every other branches, and do not listen to someone who tries to tell you that every branch gets the same thing. It's just not true - I speak from experience.

  2. Well NROTC does not require specific high school grades to get into. You first need to be accepted to the school that hosts, the Rotc program. I would say go to college, enroll in the program, and then as soon as you graduate youll be commissioned. now if money is a problem then you might wanna enlist first so afterward they can pay for it. But in a nut shell high school grades really only help in getting full ride scholarships from ROTC, otherwise, they do not matter to get in. Just speak to the detachment officer and he will set you up once you get into the host college. Good luck
